In January 2020 my brother, Tim Osborne was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer that had metastasized to his liver. Family, friends and community that know Tim were in shock. Since then, Tim, a father to Cambria and husband to Cariann, continued to work as a grade 7 teacher at Kamloops Christian school. While Tim endured rounds of two different types of chemo, he continued to show up for his band, his students, his golf buddies and his daughter and wife. Tim has always been a believer in Christ, and during this time his connection grew stronger. He has said that he is set free and not afraid of death because his Healer will be there to call him home. I am at peace knowing Tim is not afraid.
Last year after chemo had shrunk his tumours enough he underwent major surgery to dissect the left lobe of his liver. His colorectal tumor miraculously disappeared with treatment! I was lucky enough to have Tim and Cari stay with me leading up to surgery, and Cari and I sat patiently awaiting an update from his surgeon from my living room floor (covid did not allow Cari to wait at the hospital). The 9 hour surgery was successful. Tim continued with chemotherapy treatments until the tumours in his right lobe stopped shrinking. This past summer (2021) Tim began another new treatment with the hope of shrinking the remainder of his tumours. MRI scan results showed that while some shrank, many stayed the same. The treatment did not do what we hoped it would do. The tumours were no longer shrinking.
Ultimately, conventional treatments have not yielded the results desired, and Tim will be moving his treatments to a holistic approach. To understand the type of treatment please view his blog (hopefully you’re smarter than me and can understand!)https://osbornetimothyj.wixsite.com/cantrectim/post/i-was-this-close?fbclid=IwAR0aj4dsAzzVTXwY2evwbVUKoPhnEx3hvY-1Gh--moTZ2iCpRFHqfknf8oc
Further to the holistic approach Tim is on a waitlist for a clinical trial in Vancouver. There are no trials at this time, but we anticipate there will be one in the fall.
In the meantime, Tim has started IV Vitamin C infusions. Although IVC is not a proven clinical treatment, the protocol he is enduring shows great promise to at least slow the growth of cancer cells, if not shrink them down to an operable size.
With all this, I come to you asking for support. Asking for help isn’t easy, but I know it’s necessary. Much of Tim’s treatment is not covered under extended health, and monthly costs will be in the thousands. The added chance Tim can join the clinical trial in Vancouver would require relocation, and although the trial it’s self is covered, relocation costs are not.
Tim is in good spirits, and still working a day and half as a music teacher. He is hopeful, but he is tired as you can imagine the ongoing treatments have come with their list of side effects. We hope taking the burden of medical costs will allow Tim and Cariann to focus on improving Tim’s health and curing him of this disease.
Tim is an outstanding brother, friend, uncle, father, husband and son. As a family, we thank you for your prayers, positive thoughts, gifts of food and time. They’ve meant the world to Tim.
