"Can you help me get my mom an urn?"

What would you do if your niece asked you this question... "Can you help me set up a gofundme so I can afford an urn for my Mom?" I know that when Breyana sent me that message, just a few short hours after her Dad found her Mom had passed away in her sleep, the first thing I did was cry. I was heartbroken all over again at the sudden loss this family had suffered that Monday morning. And of course I immediately responded with a "Yes I will help you as best I can." My name is Jeanette and I am one of the co-organizers for this fund raiser. Breyana may be my niece by marriage, but in this family it doesn't matter how you got here, just that you ARE here.  Which also includes her parents, Mark and Carla Goodman.

Carla Goodman suddenly left us without warning in her sleep sometime in the morning hours of September 13, 2021. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and bestfriend. Many questions remain as to why this happened to her, and probably always will. Carla and her family led a simple life with little to no luxuries. Unfortunately, to many, life insurance is a luxury, and not one this family was able to afford. Carla had chosen to be cremated, but there are still associated costs that need to paid to the funeral home. And of course, an urn. Just a little something to hold Carla's remains with dignity so she can take her place next to her other daughter Candace, who preceded her in death a few years ago. 

I was suppose to help Breyana create this fund raiser. She was so desperate to make sure she and her dad could afford to give her mom a proper urn, she started without me. I'm not changing what she wrote, because it came from her heart. We were looking for life insurance or any other means to pay for Carla's final expenses first before having to ask others for help. We have a promise for a small donation to get us started, but we have only begun to cover the costs that most people don't realize come with even the bare minimum services.
