Yanda and Chan have dreamed of a second child for years, but due to health complications, they had accepted the fact that Timothy, their only child who just turned 20 this year, would be their one and only. Yanda experienced some GI issues earlier this year and while having all sorts of test to figure out what was going on, her doctor surprised her with some amazing news; She was in fact pregnant! Yanda was near the end of her 1st trimester before she knew that she and her sweet family would be welcoming a Baby Girl before the end of 2019. Over the last few months, Yanda has been trying to keep her pre-existing blood pressure under control so that she could keep working, but it just keeps spiking and sending her to the hospital. It has now been confirmed that she has preeclampsia and will need to be in the hospital until the baby is born, which could literally be any day now (she is only 7 months so ideally that little nugget needs to cook a little longer).
Yanda is self-employed and runs her own private nail spa in Wilmington, NC. She works tirelessly for her clients who often become her dear friends. She is more than a nail technician, she is an amazing mother, a wonderful wife, and a thoughtful friend. She sometimes works 14+ hours a day to ensure that her family is provided for and that her clients can be seen as early 6:30am or later than 8 pm. This pregnancy has been a wonderful surprise but she was planning to work, in her words "until her water broke." While she does have insurance, she has no disability benefits or assistance in that area because she is self-employed and also acts as the primary provider for her family. She is incurring hospital co-pays for this high-risk pregnancy and now is not able to work at all for her basic living expenses. I started this GoFundMe because Yanda is my dear friend and I wanted to do more. I know that many of her friends feel the same way, so if we share this far and wide with our friends and everyone just donates even $5 or $10, we can help her and her family relieve some of the stress from this very scary, stressful but also miraculous time. Thanks for considering and if you can't send any money just send good vibes and prayers or whatever you got for Baby Amelia, Yanda, Chan, and Tim.
