my name is Helena, I am the wife of Nicholas Swan. We are fundraising for our family of 6. On January 1st 2022 my husband aged 34 suffered from heart failure at our. Home. He was gone for a total of 17 minutes 10 of those minutes I was giving him cpr until the paramedics came and continued for 7 more minutes to try and revive him. Electronic cpr ,2 d fib shocks, IV placed in his shin and a Epi to his heart. He was pronounced dead. He had ROSC and came back to us ,by the grace of GOD ❤️ Nicholas is a literal miracle amongst many other things. He is a United States Army combat infantryman/ veteran. Among numerous other awards received during his service, Nicholas is also Purple Heart recipient he is a loving Husband and father of our 4 children. Nicholas is also a proud member of The local 1977 carpenters union. He is a mental health advocate, being co-founder and chairman of BOSS committee here in Las Vegas nv. Advocating for the members to help understand resources available, how when and where to access them ,he is always available to talk ,and help take the stigma off of mental health awareness to Let people know they are not alone. Yes my husband as my husband has been paving his way through his career. He has always maintained pride and respect most of all is extremely loving and a great provider! When he had heart failure on Jan 1st, The underlying diagnosis was caused by myocarditis. This unforeseen circumstance caused by virus?! Has now put our family through the ringer.
my husband has been ordered not to drive for six months minimum, He will need aid and attendance 24 seven as we take everything day by day. He now has a pacemaker/defibrillator installed in his heart. Hypertension, diabetes, he is currently on different medication‘s to help regulate his system as it fully shut down. This whole experience has been extremely traumatic. We have already contacted the VA and unfortunately Nevada does not offer short term disability. And we do not actually know until more time goes by how this will affect him. As he lost 80 percent of his heart function. Being placed on the heart transplant list is something we will know in the next few weeks. We don’t know what the future holds, but what I do know is right now we are asking for help from our community and friends. While he recovers. Any donation shares prayers are highly highly appreciated. We are not here looking for a free hand out, for the meantime looking for assistance while we figure out long-term situation. Continuing to walk this path with love and understanding. Thank you all for reading and sharing and donating to our family
