Help for the Singhateh Family

Donation protected
November 25th UPDATE:
Awa & her 4 children have spoken to their landlord and he has had a change of heart and decided to let them move back into their humble home in Bikrama. They were on the streets for 3 days during the transition. This change of heart is literally a lifesaver. I will continue to accept funds to give this ill, single mother of four a lifeline for her and her precious family.

I want to say THANK YOU to the generous souls who donated!
EVERY dollar adds up my friends!! :)
You created miracles as far as bringing GOOD food into the lives of Awa (Mom) and her four children. They received it in time for Thanksgiving day which I was SO ELATED to think that they TOO got to feast like most Americans during the holiday!! Hallelujah!! The large bag of rice will last them weeks!! :) I plan to keep this Go Fund Me page up for this grateful, sweet family to continue to help them on their path. Here are some photos they sent to me to show what they purchased and then made. :)

Also, Here is a message from Kebbah the 19 year old big brother right after he picked up the funds and when he was on his way to pick up groceries...

"Hello, momTina (my nickname). Good afternoon
Yes today we give thanks to God cause we have a good food."

Then Kebbah sent this message after I received the photos of the food and after Awa had cooked breakfast and working on the second meal for the day!!...

"Hello mom, Am feeling super cool (and then he used the sunglasses emoji :)) Its a blessing for us when we wake up we have our breakfast :) and now we are about to eat lunch. We are really happy momTina. Siblings are really enjoying right now!! Thank you momTina for your care and your friends. We can't pay you back but God can pay you. God bless you all and your families. We love you. (He used a lot of cute emojis that displayed to me that he is feeling better and has food in his belly which greatly impacts his mind of course.)

I am so grateful to all of you that have donated. Some of you I do not know yet, but I consider you a friend and ally now and I will be praying for you and your families. Bless you and may you know the importance of your caring.
Your friend,
Tina

Original Post:

Hi, my name is Tina. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I am a Volunteer Advocate for Hope with Shared Hope International. I like to make it my business to educate kids on the dangers of human trafficking. (I am also working on a non-profit that will sell art and help pull kids out of poverty with their creations, thus greatly reducing the chances of being trafficked.)

I am reaching out today to ask for your help as I know 4 young friends of mine and their sick mother are in REAL danger of being evicted from their current rental home, which would GREATLY increase the likelihood of the children being preyed upon by human smugglers/traffickers as three of these siblings are very young.

They live in Brikama in The Gambia, Africa. NOT a safe place to be living on the streets. They are to be evicted this Friday 11/4/2022 by their landlord for nonpayment of rent, ($200 per month that has built up these past 3 months because Awa, the mother has developed high blood pressure/hypertension issues this year and has no means to purchase medicine since. Awa has gone into convulsions and had seizures from not being able to treat her disease. This happens in front of her children, Fatoumatta, Maimuna, Fanta, and Kebba. The oldest boy, Kebba is 19 years old and has been the saving grace of this family as the head of the household since he is the man of the house. I have talked him through days where the family had not eaten for a day or two so Kebba, went out and was able to sell just enough firewood (that he goes out and collects himself) to get them some food to last a day or two. He speaks English pretty well. His siblings and mother cannot read or speak English. Their father is gone from the picture.

5 days ago when chatting with Kebba, he informed me that he was not feeling well. He had a headache and a fever. I prayed it was not covid. Unfortunately, it was not much better. He sent a photo of the doctor's slip from the nearby ER confirming that he has MALARIA.

Oh my gosh! Just when I thought we were building momentum and building the family's energies and hopes and then this happens. They are in a dire situation. If they are put on the streets this Friday, I truly fear for those kids' safety.

I know we cannot help everyone everywhere all of the time. But I am asking...this time...in lieu of any birthday wishes (Thank you! It was October 17th! :) ) or cards or presents, please consider donating to a cause that is NEAR and DEAR to my heart. Even if all you can give is $5. KNOW that $5 will go the longest way in this precious case.

The landlord who is allowing them to stay for $200 per month has become verbally abusive and is growing weary of their presence. He has now set a limit and expects to be paid back rent by Friday or the family will be evicted. My goal is to raise $1,500 for this family by Friday morning (Arizona time).
That will be enough to get the back rent paid and pay 2 months of rent, plus will leave a little extra for mom's high cholesterol meds (about $20), Kebba's malaria medication (which is supposed to be free, but that is not always the case in some locations), 3 nets to protect from further mosquito bites as they are bad right now, as well as some food to last through the Thanksgiving month.

I know there is so much going on in the world today. This can be the little piece of peace that we create together today.

I Thank You for reading and for caring. Anything you contribute will be REVERED.

I hope to report back happy news on Saturday and will share a photo of some sweet smiling faces saying thank you to YOU.

Thank you, friends.
I pray that today you find peace and love filling up your hearts.
Your Friend,
Tina
