During the night of Aug 16 as the Caldor fire advanced on Leoni Meadows, Chris Pappas stayed to help the fire crews
save as much of the camp as possible. The main lodge was saved due to their efforts but in the end Chris escaped the flames in the middle
of the night with nothing but the shirt on his back. His personal home, along with everything that he and his wife and children owned, was
lost.
Chris Pappas has served as assistant camp director and forest manager for Leoni Meadows Summer Camp, a beautiful 1,000 acre
children's local paradise tucked away in the beautiful woods of Grizzly Flats, CA. This hidden gem provides children and their families
a beautiful camping, or lodging place where they can enjoy nature and nearly every type of outdoor recreational activity, among which are hiking, zip lining, horse back riding, canoeing, camping in Indian teepees, outdoor go -cart courses, and even a miniature train that runs for miles through the wooded forests.
Chris and Jen are safe along with their two young children, beloved dog Koda, and two young cats. They have a private place to stay with
family but funds are desperately needed to help them as they go about slowly re-buiding their lives in the long months and years ahead.
For those of you who don't know me, Ellen Chien, I am from Loomis CA and Chris Pappas is my younger brother. Funds will go directly from this fund to Chris and Jennifer for purchasing needed materials to rebuild their home, along with replacing items lost, kitchen utensils, kitchen mixer, new bedding, camping equipment, clothing, garden equipment, new tires for the vehicle they escaped in, children's books, shoes, etc.
Please take this opportunity to consider giving to a loving young family who has dedicated their lives to serving their community
and are now in a time of great need and hardship.
No donation is too large or too small, and donations can be anonymous. Thank you so much for your consideration and support.
