Help for the McCall family
Dale “Allen” McCall is a big-hearted man, a proud former Marine (Semper Fi), a loyal and compassionate friend, a loving husband, and devoted father to his three amazing children. On the morning of December 29 , Allen was found by his wife Jessica face-down and unresponsive. Allen was life-flighted to Vanderbilt’s neurological ICU in Nashville. What was initially thought to be an aneurism or stroke was diagnosed as an AVM, or arteriovenous malformation. It's complicated to understand but basically the arteries in his brain are malformed and have likely been that way all of his life, but they hadn't caused problems until now. The weakened, malformed blood vessels finally became overwhelmed by the blood flow to his brain and burst- resulting in bleeding into his brain. He was rushed into surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain. Thank god he pulled through the surgery. He is stable and his blood pressure is still good which indicates no new swelling which is great. Each day he has continued to show small improvements. He is awake, his ventilator was removed, as well as the drain in his head. He has been sitting out of bed for small periods, can follow some commands, has showed improvement in movements on right side of his body (which he could not move initially), and has also just started to be able to speak little bit. He has continued to get stronger and do more. He will be in the ICU for several more weeks, then will be moved to a regular room, and then eventually on to a rehabilitation facility. His road to recovery is going to be a long one, but for those that know Allen you'll agree that he is a fighter; however, no one fights alone. Allen once said, family is not only about blood, it about who has your back when you need it most. Right now he needs us to show him that is true more than ever.
It is hard enough for a family to go through the emotional pain and heartache of seeing their loved one in such a condition, without having to worry and wade through the financial turmoil. Even though the outcome looks bright, the recovery time will be lengthy. The future holds many unknown costs with out of pocket expenses, rehabilitation, continuing critical care, as well keeping their family taken care of. Please feel no obligation to contribute, but know that no amount is too small and every penny is helpful. The last thing we want this family to think about during this time is money and I am not just asking for financial help but many prayers for a good and speedy recovery. THANK YOU ALL.
