Help for the Kaster Family

Donation protected
We are heartbroken to share this news. Yesterday, June 4th, Kris went to meet his Saviour.

Please see below a copy of Lauren’s post from yesterday.

“This afternoon our beloved Kris went to meet his Saviour. It was so peaceful and I know he waited for the right moment. We already miss him, but know this isn't goodbye- it's see ya later. We are so relieved for him. Cancer didn't win because Jesus already has. There is no more hurt, no more sickness, no more tears. We can only imagine how good it is. Thank you everyone for your love and support.”

The Kaster family cannot thank everyone enough for the support given. Kris was in awe of how generous people were and it gave him reassurance and peace knowing Lauren and the kids wouldn't have to immediately stress about finances after he was gone.

We will leave this page open for further donations as we know there will be others who want to show support for the Kasters in this time of great loss. ❤️

Dear Friends and Family, As you know the Kaster family are as good as it gets. Kris, Lauren, Hannah (10), Kohl (8), Bridget (5) and Paige (3) have given so much to their friends, family, Parry Sound and Magnetewan community, church community and camp community. Tragically their world is collapsing. In February 2022, Kris was diagnosed with bladder cancer. This was the start of a long journey that took Kris across the province for multiple surgeries, appointments and treatments for not only the bladder cancer, but also unexplained symptoms and side effects. In February 2023 Kris was told he was clear of cancer and we believed he was on a road to recovery. Less than a month later Kris was back in the hospital due to debilitating back pain. After more tests, biopsies and appointments in Toronto it was discovered that the bladder cancer was aggresive and had spread. A desperate attempt was made to come up with a treatment plan, but unfortunately the cancer was so fast that Kris was only able to complete one cycle of chemotherapy. This leads us to today. Kris has come to the end of his treatment options and has now been switched to comfort care. Lauren and Kris are currently at TGH and are trying to get Kris transfered home to hospice care as soon as possible so he can be closer to his kids. There are so many questions and unknowns right now. One thing that is clear is that the Kasters need our help. It's been so hard for Kris to be off work for the last 17+ months. Not only because Kris was doing what he loved at Camp Kahquah, but also because Lauren stays at home and homeschools the kids which means they rely solely on his income. The expenses are great. Travel to Toronto, hotels, gas, childcare and medication to name a few. This has caused financial pressure and we know there will be ongoing financial strain as the cancer progresses and beyond. The Kasters will need to drop everything to be together in hospice care. Lauren and Kris have been so resilitant, strong and faithful through these dark days. There are so many that know the Kasters and want to help. It is easy to feel helpless as we cannot take away the pain and grief that cancer has brought to their lives. However we can do something. Giving any amount is a practical way we can show the Kasters our love and support during this devestating journey they have been forced to take.
