Help for the Hernandez Family

For those of you who don't know me my name is Miranda Pedersen.  I am setting this gofundme up on behalf of my sister Jaime, her husband Val, and their daughters Jessie, Caralise, and Kayzlee.

Many of you know that my sister and her husband recently lost their newborn baby, Kayzlee.  Due to complications Kayzlee was found to be stillborn just two weeks shy of Jaime's scheduled delivery date.

Seven months ago, near the end of Jaime's first trimester an electrical fire destroyed all of their belongings in their apartment.  Jaime, Caralise, and Jessie all had to jump out a second floor window to escape the fire.  Jaime was injured.  She suffered non life threatening injuries; a broken arm and a foot injury.  Caralise and Jessie suffered minor injuries that have left them with scars, but no permanent damage.  Fortunately, the baby was not injured and ultrasounds revealed that the baby was in perfect health.  Everybody was so thankful even though they were now homeless.  They lost everything.

They relied on the kindness of others while the insurance started to work on their claim.  In November their insurance company issued them a check for just enough to get them through the holiday months and to help pay for their hotel, deposit, and rent on a new apartment.  In the meantime Val and Jaime were told to create an itemized list of everything they lost.  They found out right after the loss of Kayzlee that their insurance company had closed their claim. They are now fighting exhaustively to have it reopened.  They are living minimally right now.  They have very little clothing, furniture, household items..."3 plates, 2 pans, using plant stands as night stands" to give you an idea.

Just three weeks ago Jaime lost Kazylee.  One day she's posting on Facebook excitedly sharing a beautiful picture of her baby bump and C-section date, then just two days later she found out Kayzlee was gone.  No symptoms, no signs or warning of any kind. The umbilical cord got twisted near her belly button, cutting off all oxygen and nutrients to Kayzlee.  Jaime then had to carry her baby another day and a half until she could have a C-section to deliver her. She then spent three days in the hospital recovering without her beautiful baby. Thankfully she, Val and Jessie were able to spend a few hours with Kayzlee to hold her and love on her.  A photographer offered to take pictures, some of which they have agreed for me to share here.

To make matters even worse yet, Jessie, who is just 17 years old, has now received life altering news.  She has two tumors on her right ovary and one on her left.  She's facing major surgery with 6-8 weeks of recovery.  She is definitely losing her right ovary.  If her doctors aren't able to use robotics surgery, there is a good chance she will lose both.  The plan is to talk to her doctor and specialists about harvesting her eggs, but it's $10,000+ per egg.  She has always dreamed of having children.

Right now Jaime and Val's biggest concern is Jessie and harvesting her eggs.  I have had many conversations with Jaime over the last few weeks and some how she and Val are managing to keep it together for each other and their children.  Val works full time to try and make ends meet.  Jaime is a stay at home mom to sweet Caralise.  Throughout all this devastation and heartache she still tells me things like "...but no matter what, we will some how make it through all of this together. We love each other too much not to."

This is why I'm asking all of you for help, and to PLEASE SHARE THIS.  This is a family who has faced unimaginable heartache in such a short period of time. Every dollar and positive thought will be appreciated. Thank you.
