Help for the Garwood Family
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Molly, and I am fundraising for my best friend of over 25 years.
Abigail is usually the one who is helping everyone she can, who is always there for everyone else in her life....it is VERY hard for her to accept help, of any sort, and while she is not going to like this, she will need this! She has been at Nick's side this entire time and has been unable to work while he fights this fight.
Abigail's husband is battling right now for his life. He is currently in the ICU at Emanuel since last week. He has fought for his life this entire time and still has so, so much to go through. He will likely be in the hospital for months, with a very long recovery ahead of him.
Abigail has been by Nick's bedside this entire time, and funds will become an issue until she is able to get back to work.
Any help that can be given will be very appreciated!
Any funds raised will go directly to this family, for food, gas, bills, as well as any needed modifications to their home for when he returns.
This is the latest update from Abigail:
"Update: Nick is still in critical condition. However, God is good and prayers are working! The progress he is making was not expected, I was prepped many times for a goodbye. He is off all life support medications and all that remains is the ventilator and periodic dialysis treatments. With that in mind the infection is still rampant in his body, but at least now we know he is fighting. His CT scan showed some issues in heart and splene that are being watched, but doctors say his brain looks okay! Today he started moving his head when I was talking to him, when prompted he squeezed my hand. Doctors remind me that given the nature of the infection, he is far from out of the woods. I choose to believe he will keep moving forward. Thank you everyone for the tremendous pour-out of love and support, I am only able to write this with my wits about me because of it. Now we just hope and pray that nick can get moved to the burn unit where he needs to be for complete healing that will be necessary. His skin loss is immense and he is slowly loosing tips of fingers and toes. Due to crowding, staffing issues, and supply chain shortages they are having to be very creative with his care."
