Help for the family of micro preemie baby Vincent
Donation protected
Hi everyone my name is Kellie. I am trying to raise funds for my daughter Lindsay Gordon and her boyfriend Zachary Taylor for rising expenses due to the early birth of their son, special baby Vincent, who was born at just 25 weeks gestation.
Zachary has taken time off work as they need to be available to travel back and forth to the hospital to be with Vincent and deliver breast milk while he is in the hospital. He’s going to be in the hospital until at least September and this has put a LARGE amount of stress on his family. Money for them is extremely tight between bills, gas, and groceries for their family, they are struggling. Every little bit helps.
Back story of the birth:
Lindsay went into the hospital on Thursday June 13th after losing her mucus plug and having constant contractions for 3 days straight. The doctors had hooked her up to the machine to monitor and listen to baby Vincents heart beat for a couple of hours. They then checked Lindsay’s cervix which was 1 centimetre dilated, then as she had signs of possibly being in preterm labor they did a Fetal Fibronectin Test which can either come back negative or positive. If it’s negative it means there’s no chance of preterm labor, but if it’s positive it means there is a possibility of going into labor within 7-14 days. Her test came back positive showing there was a chance, but the doctors are unable to tell exactly when the labor could happen. She was sent home and asked to come back the next day for an ultrasound and another cervix check. On Friday June 14th Lindsay headed back to the hospital and had the ultrasound done, which showed Vincent was breach. They then checked her cervix which now was at 3 centimetres dilated. Her contractions had stopped and the doctors told her to just keep an eye on it and if anything changed to head back to Labor and Delivery asap.
Everything seemed fine until late in the evening on Saturday June 15th. Lindsay started having contractions again and then around 12 :30am she felt a small gush and realized she was bleeding. Zachary rushed her to the hospital but was unable to go in with her as they had the other children - Tristan, Ryker, Kali, and Keanu with them.
Zack then called his mother and they planned to meet each other in Woodstock so she could watch the kids while he joined Lindsay in the hospital.
Around 1:20am Lindsay was seen by the doctor and they decided they were going to check her cervix and then do an ultrasound to check Vincents position. The doctor checked her cervix and discovered membranes were bulging out of her cervix and she was about 8cm dilated. They then quickly did an ultrasound and seen Vincent was still breach so they would have to do an emergency C-Section immediately. They were unable to wait for Zack to get there as it’s about a 1 hour drive from Fredericton to Woodstock so he would be about 2 hours and the baby was coming fast. Lindsay called Zack and told him what was happening and then around 1:40am they rushed her into the operating room and prepped her for the c section. She was then put to sleep as it needed to be done quickly.
Baby Vincent was born on June 16th at 2:14am and sent straight to the NICU to be monitored and hooked up to breathing tubes and other medical equipment.
He is now 6 days old and slowly doing better, but an ultrasound on his brain showed he has a bleed on the left side which needs to be watched. They will be doing another brain ultrasound on Wednesday the 26th to see if it’s gotten any better.
The money will be used for gas for the family to go to and from the hospital everyday. Parking fees. Food and any unexpected costs that may arise from the trying situation they are dealing with. I pray everyday for my beautiful grandson to be healthy and for the family who is under extreme stress financially and mentally. I thank you so much for helping this family.
