Help for the family of Bishar Hassan

Donation protected
The Alaska Black Caucus has established this GoFundMe to assist the family of  Bishar Hassan with legal fees and other related expenses.

These excerpts were taken from an Op-ed posted in the Anchorage Daily News dated March 22, 2022.

Why We Need Body Worn Cameras
Bishar Hassan was killed by three Anchorage Police Officers on April 1, 2019. He had just purchased a BB gun at the Walmart on A Street. Someone called APD to report a “Black male” with what appeared to be a black handgun in the Walmart parking lot. It was reported that the Black male may be intoxicated, but was not pointing the handgun at anyone. It was also reported that he got on a People Mover Bus near A Street and Fireweed. It was then reported that he got off the bus at 16th Avenue and A Street.

What happened next, I could only describe as a public execution by firing squad.

How do I know this?
But for the dash cams,  Bishar's family and the public would not be aware of the circumstances of his death. This is why we need body cameras on the streets as soon as possible. You can show up to support the family, and demonstrate that our community demands transparency and accountability of our police officers.
