I was diagnosed with classic seminoma in my left testicle on January 10th, and had a radical orchiectomy on January 14th.  I recovered quickly and it looked to the surgeon and pathologist that all of the cancer was contained in the removed testicle. Pathology report said it was stage 1 and I caught it early. And it was looking like I would could take the surveillance route (spaced out CT scans) and avoid any chemo. 
I had a high contrast CT scan a month later, and to my horror the cancer had quickly spread to lymph nodes.  It was now Stage 2 and I had to get chemo.  At least 9 weeks of BEP chemo, which has the risks of permanent hearing loss and respiratory damage plus the "normal"constant nausea, hair loss, skin issues, weakness and weight loss. It became quickly evident that the out of pocket costs were far more than what we could handle, as the surgery and associated costs wiped out our emergency fund and savings.  I have insurance, but there seem to be loopholes and parts of benefits that make the insurance company cover less and less of the treatment and associated costs.  I am at a point where I have to decide whether I go with cheaper medications or go with the good version that the insurance doesn't cover.  Also, Florida legalized medical marijuana and any costs associated with that are all out of pocket.  As silly as it may sound, medical marijuana has been shown to greatly reduce the nausea side effect of chemo.
Oh yah, and on top of the whole cancer thing, our car has decided to stop working in a reliable manner.  So I'll probably have to use a ride service to get to and from my treatments.
My chemo starts March 18th and I have to start making decisions on medications now.
These funds will go to any copays, non-covered medication/treatment costs and transport to my treatments.
