Help the Core Family Stay Afloat While Caring for Logan

Hi everyone!

I’m creating this fundraiser for my dear friends Miranda and Nick Core and their children during one of the hardest seasons their family has ever faced.

This past Friday, Miranda unexpectedly lost her job. She was the primary source of income for their household, and the loss has left the family facing a very real financial crisis while already carrying overwhelming caregiving responsibilities at home.

Their son, Logan, is 24 years old and medically fragile with severe disabilities stemming from abusive head trauma (shaken baby syndrome) as an infant. Logan is wheelchair-bound, nonverbal, and requires around-the-clock care. He battles frequent seizures, respiratory complications, recurring hospitalizations, and complex medical needs that have progressively worsened over time. Earlier last month, Miranda missed four weeks of work while Logan was hospitalized and fighting for his life on life support.

Because Logan’s care needs are so intensive and unpredictable, Miranda is now trying to find remote work so she can continue being available for him. But in the meantime, the bills do not stop.

Nick works tirelessly as a tattoo artist and caregiver, but the family has been surviving paycheck to paycheck for years while balancing medical equipment, transportation needs, therapies, medications, hospital stays, and everyday living expenses. They are also raising Logan’s younger sister, who has watched her family endure more than most people could imagine.

Despite everything, the Core family continues to show up for others. They have spent years advocating for children with disabilities and for survivors of abuse, even helping push forward “Logan’s Law” in Mississippi to strengthen penalties for child abuse.

Now they are the ones who need help.

• Keeping stability for Logan and his sister while Miranda searches for remote employment
