Help for the Colmorgen's
Donation protected
As the President of our local Lacrosse program, I have the privilege of getting to know the Colmorgen's - including their 3 boys. This family has been an integral part of our lacrosse family for many years. The boys are committed athletes and their parents, Achim & Misty, dedicated parents. It is through these past years that we have come to know the challenges the Colmorgen's have faced, both medically and financially. Of which, very few know the true scope of their challenges.
As many may not be aware, Misty has been suffering seizure like symptoms since a accident in 1997 that required brain surgery. These symptoms have been quite debilitating for her. We have seen, first hand, the distress that comes to the family (especially the youngest of the boys) when Misty succumbs to a seizure. It is due to these seizures that the Colmorgen's challenges began.
Misty is one of the strongest women I know. She has persevered despite not knowing the severity of her medical illness. She has put on a very strong face. She volunteers consistently knowing that this extra stress and time commitment could send her into a relapse - but she does so any way with no complaint. She will pick up the slack to ensure that every child who plays in both the hockey and lacrosse community will be able to enjoy the most of their minor sports knowing full well that these extras will cost her health dearly. No one understands that it is these efforts that will worsen her condition. Misty's condition is an unknown at this time. Specialists at the Epilepsy Clinic at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary are doing what they can do provide relief for their family. Unfortunately, the trips to Calgary with limited family support here have put extra burden on their family financially. Misty's husband is unable to work for long periods of time as Misty cannot be left unattended for fear that an epileptic episode will leave her unconscious or worse, in a state where her children will find her. These seizures have been increasing in both duration and intensity for the past year.
As someone who cares deeply for every member of our lacrosse family, I was asked to help. To ensure that Misty receives the care she needs and to ensure that housing costs and expenses are taken care of, we are kindly asking for your generous donation. A donation that will ensure the Colmorgen's can continue their journey without the needless stress of finances. We are asking that you give, any way that you can, to support our dear friends and their family. If there is ever a need to come together this is it.
