Help for the Carman family

On the evening of September 9, 2019, my family’s lives were changed.   My husband Glenn, after a bad coughing frenzy, tore a 8cm hole in his esophagus.  Thinking he’d be okay, he waited to go to the ER. Realizing he wasn’t going to just get over this, I brought him to the local hospital. After some tests, it was thought he had Pneumomediastinum (air in the chest). We were sent to Ochsner Baptist for their pulmonary Dept. After further testing there, the hole in his esophagus was found.  We then were told he was being transferred to Ochsner Main Campus.  Once there, the Doctors were going to intubated him to do a scope to see where and how bad the tear was, and place a stint.  After that... everything was crazy scary!  I was told that he was really really sick and to call the family. The Drs said, “it’s minute by minute, day by day!”  Scared to death, I called for my kids. My son was fixing to start his football game and was pulled from it and they all came running. Glenn’s family was called and they all came as well. Glenn had gone septic, all his stomach and intestine contents had gone into his body. Resulting in a breathing machine, heart attack, chest tubes, and blood pressure problems.  After almost a month, on the machine and in ICU, Glenn finally had a tracheotomy done and a G & J tubes put in and was able to remove the tube from his throat.  He has made slow progress and is now in a Rehabilitation facility.  He is trying hard to regain his strength, stamina, and ability to walk again.  He still has many months of recovery to go. Also, while my family was dealing with Glenn’s illness, my daddy passed away after a long battle with cancer.  It has been very hard on my kids and myself during this time. While Glenn is receiving disability, we are still struggling and the medical bills are starting to hit. This is my daughter’s senior year and my son’s freshmen year in high school.. and all that goes with that.  We have never asked for help before, we’ve alway been the ones to help others.  If there is anyway you could find it in your hearts to help, we would greatly appreciate. If not, prayers for his quick recovery would be wonderful. Prayers have gotten us this for. God bless you!
