Help for the CABRERA/MONTALVO family

(En español abajo) My name is Malvis Cabrera- Brooks and I'm a resident of Colorado Springs, CO. Since December 28th, 2019,  the southwestern part of Puerto Rico has been rocked with hundreds of tremors. The epicenter of most of them being in the town of Guánica...my hometown. The lovely, sleepy town where I grew up in and where my parents still live in. Thankfully many of the residents, including my parents, are currently, physically unharmed, although the emotional toll is massive.  The emergency situation is far from over as the earth still shakes dozens of times a day with no end in sight. On January 6th, and 7th, two earthquakes caused great damage on the town. It breaks my heart to say that my parents home is no longer safe to live in. The town is devastated. I ask that, if you are able, to please help Guanica's people and it's neighboring towns by donating to reputable charity organizations. They have lost their homes and places of work. They need help now and for their uncertain future.  As for my family, many of my wonderful relatives, friends and neighbors have expressed a desire to help them personally, so I decided to start this fundraiser. My parents are people that wouldn't ask to be helped like this, but have been generous with their family and neighbors, countless times. They have a welcoming way of being and always have their doors open to whoever has needed comfort and food.  I have the most wonderful brothers and sisters in law that are doing everything they can to care for them, and at the same time are dealing with their own challenges caused by this disaster. Their long term plans are up in the air, as this is an active event, but any donations received would be used to supplement some of the costs of moving, rebuilding, cleanup or renting (we don't know yet); as well as the replacement of  basic necessary items that aren't accesible in their home because of the danger of the continued tremors. Desde el 28 de diciembre de 2020, la parte sudoeste de Puerto Rico ha sido sacudida por cientos de temblores. El epicentro de la mayoría de ellos está en el pueblo de Guánica... mi pueblo natal. La encantadora y somnolienta ciudad en la que crecí y en la que mis padres aún viven. Afortunadamente muchos de los residentes, incluyendo mis padres, están, actualmente, físicamente ilesos, aunque el cargo emocional es enorme. La situación de emergencia está lejos de terminar, ya que la tierra sigue temblando docenas de veces al día,  sin fin a la vista. El 6 y 7 de enero, dos terremotos causaron grandes daños a este pueblo. Me rompe el corazón decir que el hogar de mis padres, ya no es seguro para vivir y el resto de la ciudad está devastada. Pido que, si usted es capaz, por favor ayude a la gente de Guánica y a sus ciudades vecinas, donando a organizaciones benéficas confiables. Estas personas han perdido sus hogares y lugares de trabajo. Necesitan ayuda ahora y para su futuro incierto. En cuanto a mi familia, muchos de mis maravillosos familiares, amigos y vecinos han expresado su deseo de ayudarlos personalmente, así que decidí comenzar esta recaudación de fondos. Mis padres son personas que no pedirían que les ayudaran así, pero han sido generosos con su familia y sus vecinos innumerables veces. Tienen una forma acogedora de ser y siempre tienen sus puertas abiertas a quien haya necesitado comodidad y comida. Yo tengo a los hermanos y cuñadas más generosos del mundo, quienes están haciendo todo lo posible para cuidar de ellos, y al mismo tiempo están lidiando con sus propios desafíos causados por este desastre. Sus planes a largo plazo están en el aire, ya que este es un evento activo, pero cualquier donación recibida se utilizaría para complementar algunos de los costos de mudanza, reconstrucción, limpieza o alquiler (aún no sabemos cual será la decisión); así como la sustitución de los elementos básicos necesarios que no estan accesibles de su hogar, debido al peligro de los temblores continuos.
