Help for the Buikema Family
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Suzie Blissmer and I am a long-time friend of Jessica and the Buikema family. I am reaching out to ask for some help for them. They have had a tough year.
Jessica's oldest daughter, Peyton, has been sick for some time. She could not keep any food down at all and had been in and out of the hospital. After months of testing, misdiagnoses, and hospital stays, Peyton was finally diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis,
Eosinophilic gastroenteritis and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. This is extremely rare. As a result of this, Peyton was placed on a 100% formula diet. This was super expensive and was not covered by insurance. They had to fight for months and finally won so insurance would cover it.
Peyton also just recently had a baby about 2 weeks ago. She was very high risk and was in the hospital for 4 days when her beautiful baby girl, Quinn, was born. Peyton had to have an emergency c-section.
A few days ago, Peyton had a fever and was shaking uncontrollably. They took her to the doctor and she was admitted to the hospital. After more tests and a CAT scan, they found out she has a hematoma as a post surgery complication that has abscessed. Also an infection in her C-section incision. The aggressive antibiotics that are being administered by IV are currently not working. If this continues, the next step is surgery.
Peyton is in a postpartum room so the baby can be with her, as long as Jess is with her the whole time. Which of course, we all know she would be anyway.
As you can imagine, their medical bills were already high from all the time Peyton was in the hospital with her chronic disease and from the formula as well. Then the C-section. And now this. It is the end of the year and Jess has no vacation time left, so now she has to worry about lost wages as well.
I am setting up this Go Fund Me page to help with lost wages and medical bills. Any amount will help. If anyone would rather help in another way (gift cards, sending groceries or meals to the family at home, etc) you can reach out to me and I can help with that.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. As you know, Jess is the first person to step in and help whenever anyone needs it. Now, her family can use your help and your prayers.
