Hope for Tawnya

Tawnya Shepherd is an absolutely remarkable person. She's the type of woman that exudes love and laughter and it's impossible not to feel good when you're around her. She has an amazing attitude about life and has the uncanny ability to make you laugh no matter what the situation is.

She is an amazing photographer that specializes in horses and dogs and has spent years photographing shows, farms and kennels.

For a number of years she has been battling crippling head problems which have now escalated into horrible vertigo, tremors and pain. She has also become anemic, having to have multiple blood transfusions. Worse still she recently developed a severe breathing disorder which continues to get worse. She has undergone extensive pulmonary testing and continues to see various specialists in search of answers. She is weak and frail and yet continues to laugh and joke with every person she comes in contact with.

She hasn't been able to work for over six months and now she's in risk of losing her home. There are medications available to her that would give her some relief but her insurance won't cover them and I have watched my once vibrant and active friend be reduced to wearing a mask in public because of a compromised immune system and having to use a walker whenever she leaves the house because of the vertigo/tremors. She lives alone and has had to have Lifeline installed in her house incase she has an episode and can't reach the phone.

And through this all she will still crack a joke or make you laugh. She fought me for months about making this gofundme page because she doesn't like to ask for help and she didn't want people to know how bad she was. She's never been one to post her personal trials on social media and the thought of it all made her very uneasy. Please let's show her how much people love her and thank you all in advance on behalf of my amazingly strong friend.

I'll leave you with this hilarious picture of Tawnya at her best. She had lost over half her blood and was in extreme head pain but was still trying to make her Mom laugh and not worry. We should all be more like her.
