Help for Tavia following her amputation

Hi, my name is Valencia Howard and I'm fundraising for my cousin Tavia Jefferson. As many of you may know, Tavia was admitted to the hospital on January 7, 2022 with blood clots in both her legs. Immediately she was placed on a heavy rotation of blood thinners and doctors performed a total of five surgeries attempting to repair blood vessels with no success. Within a matter of days, she rapidly developed gangrene, necrosis of the foot tissue and was prescribed two different antibiotics to help counteract the infection.

 

Sadly, on Thursday, January 27, 2022 Tavia had to have her left leg amputated and is currently fighting to save her right foot. Tavia is a beautiful person inside and out and is a young woman of strong faith with a full life ahead of her. During this process I have witnessed her moments of sadness, anxiety and uncertainty of her future as anyone would experience being faced with such a drastic life changing event. I'm proud to say Tavia refused to stay in that place and kicked her faith into gear with this bold statement "THEY CAN TAKE MY LEG, BUT THEY CANNOT TAKE AWAY MY FAITH!" It is so beautiful that even during her own physical challenges and pain, when thinking I was pouring into her, Tavia was actually strengthening my own faith in times of adversity.

 

As a new amputee Tavia is going to need a lot of support in her months of rehabilitation. She is currently at a rehabilitation facility receiving hyperbaric chamber treatments and the doctors want to release her in less than 3 weeks without a prosthetic limb, wheelchair or transportation. Tavia currently has an upstairs apartment, so she will now need to find a new place to live including modifications to her new residence and a list of other items which are not covered by her insurance.

 

Tavia knows God has a plan for her life and as friends and family of Tavia, we are hoping to raise funds to assist with covering some of these necessary expenses. We also want to do everything possible to help her live a full life that He has set before her.
