On 12/18, I came home from a normal day at work to find my apartment flooded with fecal matter, sewage waste and water, up to above my ankle in some places. The (theorized) cause is that the underground sewer pipe either ruptured or clogged to the point of no passthrough, unloading all sewage water into my house.

This has ruined well over half of my belongings, including a PC I used every day, a couch, nearly all furniture, and many other valuables/sentimental items.

I have renter’s insurance, but have heard nothing positive about the potential of them covering my belongings so far. It’s very possible I may be out of pocket for everything I owned that was lost.

Those who know me well know how much joy I get out of my home, so this has been particularly traumatic and devastating. I’ve tried navigating as much as I can with the help of my local family and friends, but I have had enough non-local folks who I trust reach out urging me to create something like this that I think it’s okay.

Very much wish this didn’t happen, but it has, due to no fault of my own. All we can do is move forward, and this process has been/will be expensive. Any money collected would be a huge help in that recovery process.
