On April 24th, after months of doctor appointments, hospital stays, and missed days of school and work, Tyler's mom took him for an annual eye exam where he was diagnosed with papilledma, swelling of the optic disk. Within the next few hours, Tyler was admitted to Gillette Children's Hospital with what they later found out was high pressure in his brain. He was taken in for emergency surgery to place a drain in his spinal cord and 2 days later, a peritoneal shunt that will regulate the flow of spinal fluid to his brain. Through all of this, Tyler's mom has been by his side. He has a long road to recovery and she will be out of work while helping him, taking him to appointments, and eventually getting him back to school for a few hours at a time as he can tolerate it. Unfortunately, she is out of sick leave from the multiple appointments he has already had this year while trying to figure out why he had been so sick. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, and anything you can give to help her and Tyler is greatly appreciated. God bless and keep you.
