In Memory of Sweet Solomon

Donation protected
We'd love to take the burden of medical bills and funeral costs off of Katie and Kyle's plate. After the most grueling month long stay in the NICU, their sweet Solomon Jude Smith went to be with Jesus on the night of December 5th. Their little man was a true fighter and gave this life everything he had. Katie and Kyle are the most selfless people - as anyone who knows them will tell you - and they deserve nothing less than to have the time and resources to grieve their sweet boy. We are thankful beyond words for any and all donations made in Solomon's name to pay for their overwhelming hospital and funeral costs. In his short time here on earth, Solomon touched all of us deeply and we are thankful for the hope we have in Jesus to see him again someday.

***Read on below for Katie and Kyle's full story and journey to get here. (This gofundme is run by Katie's sister, Mandy, but the funds will be given directly to Katie and Kyle. They have decided - true to their giving nature - that anything raised above and beyond what they need will go to another NICU family or a charity in Solomon's name.)

Katie and Kyle's journey to become parents started three long years ago. After the exciting announcement about their first baby in 2018, they were met with the heartbreaking news that she suffered a miscarriage of twins. After getting pregnant again in early 2019, they had another gut-wrenching miscarriage. The third blow came at the end of 2019 when they got to 13 weeks with their sweet little girl on the way before suffering another miscarriage. At this point they were sent to a specialist and a 3D ultrasound showed a large piece of tissue obstructing part of her uterus the specialist said could be removed surgically to help with intrauterine growth. In March 2020, my family received the most heart warming news. Katie was pregnant again and with the surgery behind her this was likely her beautiful rainbow baby on the way! We celebrated every milestone of her wonderful pregnancy all the way to week 41 when she was induced. We anxiously awaited the pictures of joy and tired mom texts all thru the night of October 28th into the morning of the 29th. We were met with a spiraling nightmare instead as Sol was delivered not moving and fighting to breathe with shaking we would later find out to be seizures. He was rushed by ambulance to a neighboring hospital with a world famous NICU unit where every test and procedure you can think was run on him. This little man endured more in a month than most of us do in a lifetime and gave this life everything he had. After a roller coaster of ups and downs, they found out on December 4th they were finally on the home stretch to prepare to take sweet Solomon home in about one months time. However, the next day after finding a blood clot and going through a long stretch of seizures, his little body decided it was too much. The pain and agony Katie, Kyle, and our families have been through during this time is excruciating and beyond what you can fathom. We love our little golden mohawk man who stretched our hearts bigger than we could have imagined. We ask for continued prayers for peace for them in the coming months as they continue on a journey to lay their sweet Solomon to rest and life keeps moving without his physical body present anymore. We are so thankful for each and every one of you who have prayed and fasted along the way with us. You are a blessing to our family during this time.
