On July 8th my brother Matt and his wife Danielle welcomed sweet Abigail into this world. She was so excited to join the family that she arrived two months early. Abby weighed 4 lbs 6 oz and hasn't had the best start at life so far, as she has been in the NICU from day one.
She has a very rare heart and lung complication, along with some other concerns. Currently, the doctors are working very hard to get her pulmonary hypertension under control before her real battle begins. Abby needs to have open heart surgery but is not able to until she can breath on her own. Precious Abby suffers from scimitar syndrome and horseshoe lung.
This girl is tough and she needs the support of all of us to help her through.
Matt and Danielle need to drive over an hour one way just to go visit with her. They are making this trip almost daily. They also have two other young children at home (Zach and Nora) who they need to set up child care for during these visits. While getting Abby healthy is the single most important thing, the family will have expenses that really start to add up.
It is never easy to ask for help but I know that their family could really use it.
First, we are asking if everyone could send good vibes and prayers their way. The power of that alone can work wonders.
Second, if you're able to make a donation to help with rising medical bills, gas, childcare, etc that will go a long way too.
We appreciate your help during this difficult time and will try to provide updates when available.
Thank you, and stay safe!
