My friend Sussi is the beloved mother of two small boys and a small business owner, who’s worked hard her entire life. Unfortunately, she was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer right before Christmas this year. She’s had surgery and will be starting chemotherapy soon. We’re all hopeful that she beats the odds.

Sussi is the primary breadwinner for her family. As a talented hair stylist, she’s been serving clients in her Alexandria salon for more than twenty years. This diagnosis will impact her ability to take care of her boys and, sadly, may mean that they might have to grow up without her.

Sussi is proud and hardworking. She’s not used to asking for help. She’s usually the one helping others.
