HELP FOR SUE HICKEY

Susan and Tim Hickey were married in October 1982. Tim was an Industrial Electrician with a long career at Point Lepreau. Susan was an Administrative Assistant in Anglophone South for many years. Tim retired 4 years ago and Susan retired two years ago.. They raised 2 great children, Jordy and Julie, and have been enjoying their grandchildren.

Two years ago, Tim was diagnosed with cancer in several parts of his body. They were able to find coverage for the very expensive treatments required, which otherwise would cost $8,000 per month. While not a cure, the medicine is providing some quality of life.

Sadly, in April of this year, Susan was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. After 16 weeks of chemotherapy, she underwent a mastectomy. A recent PET scan has shown that the cancer has spread to many other areas of her body. She will start more chemotherapy this week and also requires an immunotherapy drug which is estimated to cost around $10.000 per month. At this point there is no coverage for the first month and possibly even the second.

The family needs your help. We want to raise enough money to cover at least the first month of Susan’s drug. There is no cure for her cancer and surgery is also not an option. Her doctors are confident that the treatment regimen will give her a better prognosis.
