Meet the Ray family. Haylie, Shaylah, Stevi, and their mom Chelsea.
A few days ago, little Stevi experienced some major pain in her joints. There was no reason that could be observed by mom, so of course, to the doctor they went. There were tests run and then more tests, but no true answers.
Then, they said that she should be transferred to San Francisco from Humboldt County. Something was very, very wrong.
Once in San Francisco, more tests, more blood work, more fear ensued. They thought perhaps that it might be Kawasaki Syndrome, but that was not it. They then had to do an MRI and a bone marrow test. So much for a little one to go through!
Finally, some answers were obtained, but when a doctor comes in and says "let's go to a conference room." it's NEVER for good news.
Little Miss Stevi has Leukemia. This was just diagnosed last night, so I do not have the exact type yet, but will send updates when I know more about those details.
We are talking about a family of 4 warrior princesses, so of course, fighting for life is commencing; however, as long as this country has the health care issues it does and puts ability to pay over medical need, pages like Go Fund Me are here.
When you're talking about your child (she's my grand niece, and blood of my blood) there is no such thing as pride. We're begging. You'd better believe it. Pride is swallowed and we'll all ask for seconds of it if it could mean that Stevi can be healthy and that Chelsea can stay strong for her as well as her sisters. Money is the very last thing that should be a worry.
Her Tapaw (Chelsea's parent) is with them and he just taught her how to play "War"
Maintaining as much normalcy as possible during this impossibly abnormal time is vital. It cannot be done without funds. That's the horrid truth.
