On April 16, 2019, Stephanie Washington was shot multiple times by police in New Haven, Connecticut. This horrific incident involved police from the Town of Hamden and Yale University. The police discharged their pistols at Stephanie without justification or cause, and the actions of the officers are now being investigated for possible criminal wrongdoing.
Stephanie Washington required surgery to help repair significant injuries caused by the police officers' bullets. Due to the shooting, Stephanie Washington also lost her independence and her car, which was shot up and is now impounded as evidence. She has also been unable to work at the two jobs that she used to support her independence. Meanwhile, medical bills continue to pile up.
