Help for Spinal Stroke Victim

Hi, my name is Dora and I am starting this fundraiser for my dear friend Patti.

Patti (Patricia VanZile) is a loving wife, mother, and friend. She is loved by all that she crosses paths with. She is energetic, hardworking, funny, and very personable. Such a joy to be around.

On March 23rd, after a normal day at work, Patti suffered excruciating pain, numbness, and the inability to feel or move from the waist down. She was rushed to Flagler Hospital where she was given an MRI and CT scan. The tests were inconclusive. Flagler felt they could not help her and transferred her to University of Florida Hospital Shand’s in Jacksonville. There they ran a battery of tests and diagnosed her with ADEM. They treated her with heavy doses of steroids for 5 days with no response. At last, another MRI was taken which showed she had an extremely rare diagnosis of Spinal Infarction (Spinal Stroke). She was then sent to Brooks Rehabilitation where she began 2 weeks of intensive therapy trying to bring movement back to her legs and feet. Because of insurance limits, she was discharged from rehab and will continue her physical therapy as an outpatient. Unfortunately, she will need to be out of work for at least 4 months until she can be re-evaluated. Due to the uncertainty of her returning to work her company decided to terminate her.

With the cost of Cobra, not having employment, and the medical bills, Patti will need help financially. Any help is appreciated!
