Help for Skye and Family

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

As many of you know I am a long time lover of our Mastiff Breed.  Over the years I have met the most wonderful people through the love of this breed.  My dearest friends, and many of whom I consider to be family.  About 7 years ago I met Mike and his family.  Mike is a person who has always gone above and beyond for his dogs.  They mean the world to him.  Over the years he has had different health challenges with his dogs and what I would consider to just be plain bad luck.  Whatever the health challenge was however, he always has risen to the challenge.  No matter the cost, he would always care for his dogs, regardless of the cost or financial burden it may place on him and his young family.
Once again he is facing a challenge in caring for his beautiful 7 month old Mastiff puppy Skye.  Possibly the biggest and scariest health challenge yet.  Skye was a very healthy happy puppy who loved nothing more then playing with her family and her canine brother and sister.  She had just started her show career and Mike had high hopes for this wonderful girl.  Then suddenly last Monday she became acutely lame and was being treated for severe Panosteitis (severe bone inflammation).  She quickly went down hill with a high temperature and a brief loss of consciousness.  She also started to cough up blood and was quickly taken to Tufts University Veterinary Clinic and admitted into their intensive care unit.  The Vets at Tufts were challenged to find out the cause of Skye's symptoms.  After doing a CAT SCAN it was discovered that Skye has a large thrombus (clot) in her left axillary vein and smaller pulmonary thromboemboli (small clots in the blood vessels of her lungs).  Her initail prognosis was very poor and at this point Skye's vet bill had already exceeded $5000.00.  They told Mike that the cost if they tried to continue care may very well double that.  Still  Mike refused to give up on Skye.
At present, Skye is starting to improve.  She will need continued close monitoring and months of medication to try and dissolve the blood clots.  She is far from out of the woods, but we are all hopeful and praying for Skye to stay strong and fight her way back.  Today she had a visit from her family, and wagged her tail for the first time in days.  We are not giving up on her.  She was always the spunkiest puppy in her litter and we are praying she continues to fight and recover.

As I know Mike will never ask for help, I am doing it for him.  Any donations for Skye's care would be greatly appreciated by all of us who love her.  And it would be most greatly appreciated by Mike and his family.
I know for a fact that his vet bill is already over $5000.00.  By the time he is able to bring her home and continue her care, I am guessing it may be double that number.  Again....any donation you can give will be appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless you all.
