On February 21st at 10:33am our son Josiah Shalom Guches was born. 2 lbs 11 oz, born 31 weeks + 4 days old - exactly two months before his expected due date. It all started when Shyri woke up on Friday, 2/19, with a pounding headache and was seeing flashing green lights. We called Kaiser and they said to bring her in immediately. Within 5 minutes of being there we found out her blood pressure was over 190 and that she was diagnosed with preeclampsia and would have to deliver soon. They said she was at risk for brain swelling, possible stroke, and seizure if we waited longer. For the next two days, the doctors were working on getting her blood pressure stabilized while making sure Josiah was healthy. The next two days were a roller coaster, with numbers going up and down and headaches coming and going. Also, she was so severely swollen in her hands, feet, arms and legs that it was almost impossible finding veins to give her medications, labs and IV. Sunday morning, around 7:00am, the doctors came into our room and told us that Shyri’s lab results came back and her creatanine levels had doubled since she’s been here. The only option to protect her and Josiah’s health was to deliver him asap, so they scheduled a c-section for 10:00am that morning. We praise God that the delivery was a success and that Josiah came out safe and healthy! He was moved to NICU right away and is progressing well. We are not sure at this time how long he will have to stay here, but the nurses said at minimum until he is 35 weeks.
Many have reached out asking how they can help us. Prayer is still and will always be our greatest need, however there is a financial need as well. We received an estimate of about 7,000 dollars for the cost of Shyri’s and Josiah’s stay here at Kaiser. We were definitely not prepared for this amount of hospital expense and for him to come so early. We would greatly appreciate any donation that you decide in your heart to give.
We know that God is our faithful provider. He has been our comfort and peace in this time. We thank you in advance for your loving kindness.
