Greetings Martha’s Vineyard and beyond! My name is Forest Lovett and I have set up this GoFundMe to help raise money for my dear friend Sgt Dave Matthew’s who was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Orlando early this month. Dave was transported to Orlando Regional Medical center in a Medivac helicopter where he continues on a long road to recovery. For those of you who don’t know who Sgt Dave Matthew’s is, it’s important to me that I share this story with all of you to not only help raise funds for Dave but to bring light to how much Dave does for his country, all of our veterans and for our island community. Dave was originally born in Boston so you’d often here Dave refer to himself as “Boston Born Dave Matthew’s”. Aside from serving 3 tours in Afghanistan as a Army Sergeant, Dave has dedicated his time to help build memorials that honor our veterans at countless restaurant and business locations across the United States. Dave has played a key role at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown over the past 3 Years in the engineering department. He established himself reliable ready and able to take on any task with his hands. He called himself an “Engine-nerd” and would rarely fall short of creative. The grounds at HarborView seem safer and cleaner whenever Sgt Dave is working. For a man that does so much for others and his country it is hard to believe that something like this could happen to him. Anything helps, and I want to say thank you in advance to anyone who donates to this truly deserving person. This money will help pay for Dave’s medical expenses as well as support him while he fights to get better and get back to Island. Thank you all and God Bless America
