Selso H. Ruiz Jr. is survived by his two daughters, seven sisters, both parents, and a plethora of family and friends. Selso dedicated his life to his children and did everything in his power to make this transition easier for them when he got sick. He stayed positive from the day he was diagnosed with cancer until the very end. He would still talk about his dreams and aspirations for the future, like someday having a condo in New York and a beach house on the west coast. He was such a dreamer! His final wish was to get well and take his daughters to Disneyland one more time, but he lost his battle.
Selso was a program assistant in the office of student life for Hartnell college. He was extremely passionate about his job and constantly stressed on helping his students in any way he could. He genuinely loved them and his co-workers. Selso spent his whole life being an advocate for education. He attended his students’ graduations and took every step possible to make their transition to college easier. The outpouring of messages we have received speaking on how caring and friendly Selso was is overwhelmingly amazing. Everyone brings up his infectious smile or his determined personality.
Selso touched so many hearts in his short life of 42 years. He fought a strenuous battle since the beginning of this year and was surrounded by his daughters and family when he was welcomed to the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, April 21st at 1:44 pm. Although we wish for more years with him, we are so grateful for the time God gave us
We are so grateful for all of the prayers and love from everyone during this time.
We are asking for help with his funeral expenses and are thankful for any support. God bless you
