SCOTT’S COMMEMORATIVE RIDE
Donations to support Brandon Russ’s College Fund
I have been sincerely amazed by the support you have generously provided for Scott and his family through this difficult battle with his illness. Thank you all so very much for sharing as you have; it significantly helped with Scott's care, providing for things such as a unique bed, wheelchairs, a body lift and caregivers, a true blessing to Mary and Brandon.
Now that Scott has transitioned to a place of peace and rest, the cycling community that Scott significantly impacted has come together with a cycling event, SCOTT’S COMMEMORATIVE RIDE, on October 15th, 2022. The ride will depart from the Matthews Social House, the old Mojo Bicycle Shop location, at 9:30 AM, for a 30-mile (+ or -) ride. We will have Matthews Police Department leading us out and volunteers that will provide SAG support for the ride.
While there is no entry fee for the ride, we are asking for donations through this GoFundMe page, with all the proceeds going towards Brandon’s (Scott’s son) college fund. Brandon has many years yet to complete his Textile Technology Degree at North Carolina State University.
Thank you for your continued support for the Russ family and for Brandon’s education; this will go a long way in assisting Brandon to complete his education and help set him up for his future. Thank you!

We all have that friend. That one friend who always made time to be there for us. That one friend that, when we sit around and tell stories, everyone has a story about that time when that friend made a difference. Maybe that difference was something said to make you smile or laugh. Or a story meant to encourage you. Perhaps it was something done to make things easier. But, regardless, that friend always made a difference. Scott is that friend. Quietly making a difference. His grace and compassion, visible in every interaction.
Scott's impact on the community surrounding him has been very much the same story. His willingness to always help out. His eagerness to show support. The community he's always been a part of has always been better because of him.
Scott needs that community now. He needs his friends now. He needs all of us now. Diagnosed with Huntington's disease, Scott and his family face a long battle. His care needs continue to grow, and he's no longer able to work. By donating to this GoFundMe campaign, you can help us secure the resources required to ease the burdens his family will face in the future.
