Help for SCMS Families Impacted by the Fire
Donation protected
Earlier this week, members of our Silver Creek Middle School community suffered immeasurable loss with the explosion and subsequent fire that occurred at the Friendly Gardens Apartments while our children were at school. Approximately 25 Silver Creek families have been displaced from their homes due to the buildings that burned and the adjacent buildings that residents had to evacuate due to smoke and other dangerous conditions. Some are likely to return to their homes soon, while others lost everything.
Fortunately, all Silver Creek students and their families are safe. As a true testament to their strength in the face of adversity, nearly all of the students impacted by the fire made it to school on Friday. They received counseling, support and hugs from their friends, and an essential sense of normalcy. Silver Creek is their support system and their home. As of yesterday, the school administration estimated that around ten Huskie families are in need of our help.
The Silver Creek community is built on a strong foundation of generosity and caring for one another. Please help us rally around our fellow Huskie families during this time of great need. Although there are many organizations and programs that help families at these times, we think it is important for our affected students to know their fellow classmates care deeply for them and are here to help. Towards this end, we want to provide gift cards directly from the Silver Creek community as quickly as possible to support the families' immediate needs - clothes, food, toiletries and anything else they need to buy.
Please consider making a donation using the link below. The Silver Creek administration will give them all money donated here as quickly as possible. Thank you in advance your generosity and for helping us show our fellow SCMS families that the Huskies are here for them!
