Hi everyone,
some of you may have already watched my five minute long video explaining what happened. For those of you who have not watched it, I encourage you to watch it first. The short version is : I tried to help somebody adopt cats she wanted, got her in contact with a New Hope Rescue, who I know pulls cats from Nycacc. The New Hope rescue graciously pulled three kill listed cats, and one of the Kill listed cats siblings for this person who asked to adopt them. When Transport day came, Adopter claimed she was too busy to go home and meet the Transporter. The following day she was supposed to meet the Transporter for the cats at her home, but once again, she stopped taking calls or texts and left the cats with nowhere to go.
I now have four new cats that I didn’t plan on. For anybody who knows me, I do not take in diabetic cats. I take all kinds of special needs kitties, but I always avoid diabetic cats because it’s just too much for me, Ive been through it in the past, and I know what it entails- and with me currently already having 34 cats I would never handpick, to take in a diabetic cat. But here we are, with four new cats, and one of them who is diabetic, and the shelter failed to even send me her insulin. These cats are not being planned on being permanent family members, but I could not let them go back to the shelter. I have no idea how long they are going to be here with me. One of the cats seems semi feral, (Gadget). Ms kitty cat is the diabetic and diabetics are extremely hard to place, let alone find an adoption facility who wants anything to do with them. I am not only making this fundraiser in preparation for extra things like food and litter, just by having four additional mouths to feed. But now I’m going to have to buy insulin, and probably have her regulated by day long stays at the vet. Regardless, I am trying to prepare for when things happen like this, that I am able to have monetary backing for them and to be able to care for my own sanctuary kitties and not have to worry about being able to afford their food, litter, or veterinary care. Once again, please watch that video as I really wanted to take in two kill listed leukemia positive cats, and now I don’t think that’s a possibility. I am lacking space right now and unfortunately I have not raised enough money to finish the cat shed or to buy a new fence to protect that new shed area and give those cats an outdoor safe space also.
So to be transparent and to wrap up what I said: I have no idea how long I’m going to have these cats for, but my intentions are not to have them be permanent family members, but give them a safe space until I can find an adoption facility who will accept them and find permanent homes for them.
However, I would like to be able to take in leukemia, positive cats, especially the ones were killed listed, so they don’t have to lose their life just because of lack of space in a positive test result. They would be permanent family members.
This fundraiser is going to support veterinary care for every single cat in my home who needs it, food, litter, and although I do have a separate fundraiser for my cat shed… It is so important that I get this cat shed finished, complemented by a separate fence, so I can have the extra space I need for times like this.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me so far. I hope I have been clear in both my video, and in this go fund me. If you need any clarification, please feel free to reach out to me and I will be more than happy to clarify.
