Help for Rosalei Medical Bills
Rosalei was born prematurely, has been to many different specialists, was admitted to the hospital last June for almost 2 weeks, and has been diagnosed with Craniosynostosis (sagittal) - premature fusion of the skull bones which she needs surgery to correct. Surgery will make sure her brain has proper room to grow and her head isn’t misshapen. We are still testing to rule out more medical conditions.
She has a variant of the MEGF8 gene mutation (linked to Carpenters syndrome type2). Its unknown how much it could affect her health.
We have seen several surgeons about her Calvarial Vault Reconstruction (SKULL SURGERY) and after so much fighting for answers / research of my own I found Dr. Fearon. He was able to provide answers to all of my specific questions, his surgery method is the safest for many reasons, and he has tons of experience with complex syndromic children like her. The surgeons make a huge incision across the top of the head, reconstruct the skull bones by removing and cutting/shaping them, and then replace the skull and sew it all up. It's intense. In this procedure there is always a (small) risk that a baby may lose too much blood and not wake up after the surgery. To be sure that our Rosalei gets the absolute best care possible, we'll be traveling from Alabama to The Craniofacial Center in Dallas, TX. Here’s more info about the treatment http://thecraniofacialcenter.com/synostoses_treatment.html
As a mom taking care of four young kids, working from home, starting over, and trying to save money for her surgery ; we have a long journey ahead of us and I greatly appreciate any prayers and help to get our sweet Rosalei the quality care she needs!
