As many of you know Rory was flown out of here this past week. He was unresponsive and has been at Munson hospital in Traverse City all week and now has been taken to U of M Hospital. This family needs our help! He has suffered with CVS for years now and it is such a shame to watch a good man suffer! We are hopeful that U of M can solve this problem so he can get back to a normal life! I think his weight was down to near 90 pounds. Following is a commentary from his mother. Please do what you can to help this young man! Thank You! Rich
From his mother Marie: "
I've been getting messages asking about my son, Rory Connaghan. So thought I'd put it out here rather than respond to each message. Long story short, Rory was found unresponsive last Friday. 911 was called and when EMS arrived his blood sugar was 18. Anything below 40 is considered extremely dangerous and potentially fatal. One of the paramedics said if they hadn't gotten to him then he wouldn't be with us now. He was taken to Munson in Traverse City by North Flight. They are trying to figure out how his sugar was so low and still trying to raise his level. He was diagnosed with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS) years ago. The GI Doc here thinks it may be something else and he's been poked and prodded all week. As I type this, he is receiving a unit of blood as his hemoglobin is low. He's had cat scans on different parts of his body, MRI's, also on different parts of his body, an EGD (Google) and he's waiting to be taken down for yet another MRI of the brain (was told it's common when someone has been unresponsive). Tomorrow he is having a Gastric Emptying Test (again, google).
And for those who don't know, he and Gerald LaFreniere are half- brothers. When it rains, it pours!"
From yesterday: "UPDATE 5/27...RORY HAS A MASS ON HIS PITUITARY GLAND. HE WILL BE TRANSFFERED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN HOSPITAL."
