Hi friends. I am in a difficult time right now, having to move from my current location by November 1, and I currently have no place to move to. I am checking Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace for room rentals, but so far I'm not getting return messages from my inquiries. I have a small amount of online contract work that I'm doing, which is currently my only income. I do not currently have a full-time job. I also have no car (and I currently can't afford one), which also limits my mobility. I would like to keep an Internet connection if possible, since it's the only way I get what income I currently have. However, in order to be able to pay for a room rental or deposit for November, or perhaps more likely at this point, a temporary motel room with Wifi access until something else comes up, I need some help with paying for either of those. Thus, I am humbly asking for help--anything you can spare to help me as I keep searching for a permanent place to call home.
Despite having a PhD, I have not been able to get even a temporary or part-time teaching position. (I'm sure ageism plays a part in this.) As most of you know, I work on a contractual basis for a couple of places, including Cambridge, but right now the money I'm expecting from these jobs will not arrive until later next month. In the meantime I need to move, and, hopefully, keep a roof over my head. Thus, I'm asking for a total of $1500 to help me survive the next month or so.
(I do get state food aid and medical, and I have a private mailbox in order to keep receiving those benefits.)
I would greatly appreciate any small amount you can donate. I know it's a hard time for all of us with Covid and politics asking for more and more donations. But I'm not running for office; I'm just trying to survive. I understand if you can't contribute, but please pass this along to others who might be able to help.
Thank you very much.
Dave
