My name is Tanya and I have known Reid and his beautiful family for five years. We met through football when our sons played on the same team. I always felt very bonded with them and our friendship quickly turned into ''family".
Reids story begins only a few short months ago. After not feeling himself for a while he eventually started to feel very unwell. Reid underwent an array of testing and in April 2020 his diagnosis was that he had Kidney Cancer. He immediately had surgery which removed one kidney and a very large tumour. After the surgery Sandra and Reid were thrilled to be told that the cancer did not spread and Reid was declared cancer free in June.
In early July, Reid was experiencing excruciating back pain and was eventually rushed to the ER. While at the hospital Reid and Sandra received the shocking news that the cancer had spread to his abdominal walls and back muscles. They were referred back to the Oncologist who delivered the devastating news that the cancer was the rarest of kidney cancers called Renal Sarcoma, stage 4 terminal cancer. In an effort to prolong his life Reid agreed to try immunotherapy. After 3 immunotherapy treatments Reid and Sandra learned that the therapy was not working and that unfortunately the tumours were growing larger and the cancer was spreading to the rest of his body.
Sandra made every effort to keep the family together in the family home for as long as possible. Sadly, Reid went into hospice on Monday September 21st. Reid fought hard and never gave up hope. The family is spending as much precious time as possible with Reid at this time.
I have always wanted to help somehow. I NEEDED to do something to make this terrible time somehow easier. Sandra has not been able to work the last few months as she has been taking care of Reid around the clock. Obviously, Reid was unable to work as well. Lets all come together and help ease the financial burden that Sandra is facing and no doubt will be facing for some time to come. We appreciate any help you can give.
His love for his family will never be forgotten.
xoxox Update: It is with great sadness to share the news of Reids passing on Sunday September 27th
