Support for Randy & Deb's urgent financial need

Dear friends,
We’re Randy and Deb Kalmbach. Many of you know us well. We’ve been together since high school and are proud parents to two amazing sons. We also enjoy the blessings of a lovely daughter-in-law and two precious grandchildren. After Randy served eight years in the Air Force, we moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1982 where we have lived ever since.
We’re reaching out to you because we're facing a difficult financial situation. It isn't easy to talk about. We know we’re not alone in struggling to keep up with the rising costs of living.
In 2018, we moved from the small town of Winthrop, Washington where we had lived for 23 years, to the Olympic Peninsula to take care of Deb’s mother.
We invested the proceeds from the sale of our Winthrop home, and we have been living on those investments and social security for the past 6 years. Unfortunately, we have experienced a downturn in the investments. We’re rapidly running out of funds, leaving us with our limited social security to depend on. We do not have any other retirement benefits.
We’ve both experienced some major health issues during the past few years. Randy had open-heart surgery in 2021 for an aortic aneurysm repair, and then Deb was diagnosed with a heart obstruction that required open-heart surgery in 2023. She’s now recovering from recent knee replacement surgery.
Due to our ages and the recent medical procedures, we are limited in seeking employment to help with our situation. Randy will soon be working part-time for the Sequim School District, while Deb continues to pursue online work with her life coaching and writing. Our concern is that we won’t be able to cover the costs of our rent and other living expenses. Needless to say, this is stressful!
We're humbly asking for help by starting this GoFundMe fundraiser. Any contribution you can offer would mean the world to us, as well as sharing this with your network of friends. Our hope is that with your support, we can cover our expenses for several months, until we find a more affordable living situation.
Despite these challenges, we’re grateful for the countless blessings we’ve had in our lives. As believers in Jesus Christ, we trust there’s a way through this difficulty. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Randy & Deb
