Funds to help the families along the South-West Coast of Newfoundland that were impacted by the devastation left by FIONA

Given the magnitude of damage from Hurricane Fiona, the Canadian Red Cross has decided to launch a national appeal to donors, with the funds to be used in a variety of ways. Criteria is being finalized but donations to appeals for domestic disasters like this generally seek to assist those most impacted and for expenses not covered by other means such as insurance or government assistance programs.

Donors through this GoFundMe should receive tax receipts from PPGF Canada. *All funds go directly to the Canadian Red Cross Society which is registered with GoFundMe.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the federal government will be matching donations to the red cross to help with Fiona recovery. They will be matching donations from Canadians and corporations to the Red Cross over the next 30 days.

Please note that they can’t provide a tax receipt for donations received this way. We will record all money received and funds will go to all those affected by Fiona in our region. Distribution of funds will be overseen by a committee of representatives from all Towns affected in our region.
