HELP FOR PIPPIN TO BEAT CANCER WITH CHEMOTHERAPY!
Spende geschützt
Hi everyone, for those of you that don't know me my name is Jacky and I am asking for any help to raise funds for my 'best boy' Pippin who has sadly, very recently and very suddenly been diagnosed with Lymphoma and needs emergency Chemotherapy to try and beat this awful disease.
Here is our story ...... Pippin is our 5 year old Shih-poo and our absolute world! He came to live with us when he was 8 months old as his previous mummy needed to rehome him, we were the luckiest family to be chosen to adopt this gorgeous, amazing, cuddly, funny, playful & VERY fluffy boy and he has completely changed mine and his 'brothers' Jamie & Dannys lives.
Over the years Pip has struggled with stomach & bowel problems and on Thursday 20th April he took ill very suddenly and I rushed him to our vets 'Town & Country' in Market Harborough. Because Pip was in so much pain in his tummy they admitted him to give him pain relief and wanted to do some blood tests and an ultrasound to try and find out what was causing his pain, a couple of his blood results were slightly abnormal and the ultrasound showed a couple of enlarged lymph nodes. They managed to get his pain under control and we brought him home in the evening to monitor him but the vets wanted him back 1st thing the next day to examine him again & decide what the next step would be.
That next step was Pip being transferred immediately to the Abington Animal Hospital in Moulton nr Northampton where he underwent another examination. At that point they were unsure what was going on and gave us 2 options .... 1st option was to treat a 'possible' infection/inflammation somewhere with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics and to see how he was, or ... the 2nd option was for them to do their own scan. It was a no brainer for me (despite the extra cost) as I knew something wasn't right with my boy and I opted for another scan. We said our goodbyes and left him in the hands of the team and wait for any updates, we hadn't even got home when I received a phone call, the scan had already been done and it showed he had several severely enlarged lymph nodes and a mass in his intestine & he needed emergency surgery! I couldn't believe what I was hearing, my world, my best boy was seriously ill and Pippins life was now in their hands. After what felt like the longest afternoon we finally got the call to say he was out of surgery, the mass was removed alongside part of his intestine because the mass had perforated the intestine and caused damage (which is possibly why he was in so much pain). They also took biopsies from his lymph nodes to send away for analysis. They flushed out the rest of his intestinal tract to try and remove any other nasty stuff and kept him in til the following Monday to monitor him and give him fluids, pain relief and strong antibiotics. He came home to recover and it was a long time before we saw an improvement and finally get our Pip back to his normal self while we had the awful wait for the results.
That dreaded phone call came on Friday 12th May and it was confirmed that Pippin has Lymphoma. His best chance is for Intravenous Chemotherapy which will be a 19 week course. He will have to go to the Hospital once a week for 19 weeks and be given his treatment in the hope that it puts him into remission. This has been the hardest and most difficult decision that myself, Jamie & Danny have discussed at length and all agreed that we want to give Pip every chance at beating this and letting him live as long as possible. If he was an older dog our decision would possibly have been different, but he is only 5 (nearly 6) and deserves a chance and we can't just give up on him without trying. He will be monitored very carefully and given every piece of love & care by the team at Abington and we will always make sure he is comfortable, pain free and happy (& he will have even more love and cuddles than ever .... if thats possible!!)
This all being said the cost of this treatment is not cheap .... our estimate we have been given is around 8k !!!! Yes ... it's a hell of a lot of money and it's not the sort of money we have got just lying around hence why we've taken the decision to set up a 'go fund me' and ask for help no matter how small as we all know these are difficult times for everyone with the cost of living nowadays. We have already had bills for over 5k with all of his appointments, blood tests, ultrasounds, medication, surgery and aftercare etc and exceeded our insurance limit but we are desperate and just want to give our special best boy Pippin a chance to live his life.
Thankyou to each and every one of you that has already shown so much love and support and for everyone taking the time to read our story.
With Love & Hope From Jacky, Jamie, Danny (& of course the most important part of this fundraiser) ....... PIPPIN!!!!!!!!
