Help Wendy with Medical Expenses

Our dear friend Phil Coy was diagnosed with two glioblastoma multiforme primary brain tumors, malignant in May 2018. He has completed surgery, chemo and radiation, and two adjuvant rounds of chemo. As a result of his illness and treatment, he now has significant physical impairments that require around the clock care. Not only that, the most recent MRI revealed a new tumor. What was a speck 2 months ago is a new one-third-of-an-inch tumor now. So...
Ready or not, here he comes! Phil soon will be released to come home, and while that is where Phil and Wendy both want him, neither of them is ready for this reality and they need your help.
Wendy and Phil cannot afford home health care. Their insurance plan (provided by Phil’s company) covers only 60 1-hour visits per year using a home health aide. The policy does not cover home health / custodial care, and unfortunately, they do not have a long-term health policy.
Many of you have asked what it costs for 24/7 care, since Wendy can’t manage Phil alone. The short answer is… a lot!. For in-home care through agencies, hourly rates seem to hover around $20-$25 per hour, which comes out to about $400/day. If Phil needs still need more 24/7 care in a facility, Wendy and Phil would be charged $550 per day.
We aren't sure yet how many hours a day Wendy would need help for Phil, but it could be anywhere from 4 to 16 and at even $20 an hour, that adds up quickly. In addition, some of you have asked about specific things they will need for his care – perhaps a Hoyer lift to get him in bed, perhaps another commode, etc. Insurance may cover some of these needs, but others will be out-of-pocket expenses.
This is uncharted territory for Wendy and Phil, and not having the funds to cover for care is humbling. If God leads you to contribute in some way, they will be most blessed.
