Dear Friends and Family,
I am writing this to ask for your help. As you may or may not know, I was in a car accident a little over 2 years ago. I was diagnosed with a compression fracture in my spine. Approximately 6 months after the car crash I slipped and fell at work landing on my back which compressed my nerves and began to effect my left arm and my left hand. Since the car accident I have been dealing with moderate to severe pain 24/7. Living with this pain has been and continues to be very difficult and debilitating at times.
As a result of this chronic pain, I had to drop out of college, because I couldn't handle the work load nor sit in a classroom. My large social circle has dwindled to a handful of best friends and family. Because of the pain in my left hand it has made it progressively harder to play guitar, piano and even draw/write in a notebook, which are some of my passions. In high-school and my first couple years of college I was an athlete, I love to play basketball and football but now I can barely shoot the basketball without pain.
The pain has also worn me down emotionally, spiritually and physically causing severe anxiety and panic attacks as well as clinical depression. Over the past couple of years I have seen countless doctors and tried a number of different medications.. Due to overuse of these medications I ended up in the ICU in Flagstaff, AZ and suffered a stroke this past November. I lost two weeks of memory and after almost a year have still not fully recovered. I also have reason to believe that I may have experienced brain trauma multiple times in the past which is contributing to my pain.
There is a clinic in California (The Amen Clinic) that specializes in the issues that I'm dealing with. Amen Clinics, Inc. is one of the world leaders in applying brain imaging science to help people like me who struggle with:
Emotional issues such as anxiety, depression.
Behavioral challenges like addictions.
Cognitive problems such as memory issues.
Learning challenges like Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
It is cutting edge technology. The total cost for all of the treatment is $6000 and unfortunately not covered under my medical insurance.
I need a different kind of treatment and I believe that this may be it. I am asking that you would consider making a donation in supporting me to receive the necessary treatment from this clinic to help me in my recovery journey. My parents have sacrificed a lot over the past few years on my behalf and I know they are not in a position to help me with this.
