Fellow 1990 Classmates,
My downtown Los Angeles apparel production studio, which should have been busy making active and swimwear the month has been converted into a PPE mask and scrub making operation. We have the ability, the workforce, and raw materials to produce much needed masks with a quick turn around time. We have already donated 10,000 masks to local hospitals that have experienced a dire need for such items. 

Our classmate, Dr. Deborah Cohan, mentioned that last week she had to work without a mask because of a severe shortage. I'm sure there are other stories from classmates just as scary. Therefore I am donating my studio and all costs involved in its operation and shipping to make and donate masks to those classmates and their colleagues in the medical field who are on the frontline fighting this pandemic. All I am asking for is assistance in paying for the medical grade fabric and the cost of labor from our dedicated sewers and cutters. The masks we are making are washable/reusable, three layer with nonwoven polypropylene protective filter, with nose seam and chin guard. We are not adding any logos or marketing tags. The cost of fabric increases by the hour but we have secured a number of bolts earlier last week. The breakdown per mask for the raw materials and labor is about $2.97. Therefore I'm hoping we can reach a goal to make 10,000 or more and divide amongst hospitals. We can make 10,000 in two days and 20,000+ in three days to a week (depending on total amount). 

Together with classmates Sarah Wade Swank and Lauri Lee, we are asking for your financial assistance so we can send thousands of masks to the hospitals where our classmates work.
