Help for our loving Jennifer

Jennifer Troya is a vibrant, charismatic, full of life person, and the bedrock of her family… at least that’s what most people that know her would say. That is why it saddens us to say that her life has been drastically changed forever due to a tragic incident.

On the night of August 7, 2021, Jennifer Troya along with three others, were involved in a hit-and-run, in which they were struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. She was rushed to Harlem Hospital as a level two trauma patient. She suffered pelvic fractures, nasal bone fractures, a right thigh degloving injury, among cuts and bruising.
Her nine year old cousin was also involved in the incident and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Her best friend, Viky Morales, a person whom she considered a second mother, was involved in the incident as well. Unfortunately and with deep sadness we inform you that she has passed away due to a traumatic brain injury. She is survived by her husband and her eight year old son (who was also involved in the incident but suffered non-life-threatening injuries).

Jennifer Troya has undergone two successful surgeries and remains hospitalized at Bellevue Hospital, where she had to be transferred to be attended by a specialist. She will have to undergo months of physical therapy and will be in need of a home attendant during her recovery period. Her home, which she shares with her grandparents and father, will need special accommodations to help her move around with the help of a wheelchair. Furthermore, the psychological trauma she has suffered due to the loss of her best friend and the details of the incident have caused a huge toll. She will need ongoing psychotherapy during this period. 

During this time she will not be able to work, thus unable to cover pending medical and legal expenses. Any funds collected will go a long way to help Jennifer Troya during this difficult period. Jennifer Troya es una persona vibrante, carismática, llena de vida y la piedra angular de su familia ... al menos eso es lo que diría la mayoría de las personas que la conocen. Por eso nos entristece decir que su vida ha cambiado drásticamente para siempre debido a un trágico incidente.

En la noche del 7 de agosto de 2021, Jennifer Troya junto con otras tres personas se vieron involucradas en un atropello y fuga, en el que fueron atropellados por un vehículo que huyó del lugar. Fue trasladada de urgencia al Hospital de Harlem como paciente de trauma de nivel dos. Sufrió fracturas pélvicas, fracturas de huesos nasales, una lesión por desguace del muslo derecho, entre cortes y hematomas.
Su primo de nueve años también estuvo involucrado en el incidente y sufrió lesiones que no pusieron en peligro su vida.

Su mejor amiga, Viky Morales, una persona a quien consideraba una segunda madre, también estuvo involucrada en el incidente. Lamentablemente y con profunda tristeza les informamos que ha fallecido debido a una lesión cerebral traumática. Le sobreviven su esposo y su hijo de ocho años (quien también estuvo involucrado en el incidente pero sufrió heridas que no pusieron en peligro su vida).

Jennifer Troya ha sido sometida a dos cirugías exitosas y permanece internada en el Hospital Bellevue, donde tuvo que ser trasladada para ser atendida por un especialista. Tendrá que someterse a meses de fisioterapia y necesitará un asistente a domicilio durante su período de recuperación. Su hogar, que comparte con sus abuelos y su padre, necesita adaptaciones especiales para ayudarla a moverse con la ayuda de una silla de ruedas. Además, el trauma psicológico que ha sufrido debido a la pérdida de su mejor amiga y los detalles del incidente le han causado un gran precio. Necesitará psicoterapia continua durante este período.

Durante este tiempo no podrá trabajar, por lo que no podrá cubrir los gastos médicos y legales pendientes. Los fondos recaudados contribuirán en gran medida a ayudar a Jennifer Troya durante este período difícil. Gracias a todos por sus maravillosos deseos y apoyo.
