Help for our Hero Harrison

Donation protected

Hi Harrison’s Happy Helpers!

I am reaching out on behalf of my running buddy Harrison Helmig, who has been having a rough month.  He is in the hospital and needs his dad to join him and his mom for some procedures and tests and could use a bit of your help.

Harrison and I were paired up in the “I Run 4” community, and I have had the honor of running, walking, and hiking for Harrison for a little over three years now.  When we were first paired, I understood very little of what Mama Karin had explained, but I understood enough to see that Harrison’s illness impacted his daily life from time to time.  As we became closer, I began to learn that Harrison suffers from a genetic disorder so rare it was in part named after Mama Karin’s maiden name.  I learned that GERD could cause my buddy immense pain, that sometimes he liked to scare us with hospital visits, and sometimes maybe had trouble breathing.

I also learned that Harrison is a true hero, and that I was so privileged to be in his life.  I learned about the rest of the Helmig family and crew and quickly learned to love the whole family.

Harrison is in an out of state hospital, and Mama Karin and Papa Scott have been trying their best to split their time between home and Colorado where Harrison and his specialists are.  He is facing some tremendously difficult and in depth tests and he needs his dad to be able to fly out to be there with him and his mom.

This is where I was hoping we might be able to help.  Through the incredible power of community, we have been able to locate a flight for Papa Scott to be by Harrison’s side by tomorrow.  If you can contribute to this amazingly beautiful family, it would mean the world to my hero Harrison.  While he is fighting physically, we can support him by coming together and lifting him and his family in prayer, contributions, and support.

I have set our goal for $1500 to help Scott get to Harrison.  The break down would be $600-800 on a round trip ticket (based off a $400 ticket there), $300 on taxis or a rental car while in Colorado, $200-300 for food and accommodations, as well as a bit extra for any incidentals that might arise.

Thank you you so much for joining Harrison’s team and becoming a happy helper.  You have no idea how grateful the Helmig family is for all of your love, support, and prayers.  And as Harrison’s buddy, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for contributing and helping facilitate both parents joining my hero!

Sincerely,

Harrison’s Happy Helpers
