Emergency Fund for Jason & Holley

Jason Johnson & Holley Reedy of Petaluma had been living at Jason’s family property in Berry Creek for five years before the Bear Fire burned it to the ground on September 9th, 2020. Although they had made a beautiful home for themselves and their two sweet rescue dogs, Sam & Koko - a place where they could host friends for the weekend, where their granddaughter Rio could visit for months at a time, and where Holley had been recuperating from a stroke she suffered late last year - they only received the deed to the property weeks ago, and everything on it was uninsured. Among the belongings lost in the fire (one of the largest and fastest-moving fires in California history) were two very rare classic cars, the fifth-wheel trailer that they moved out of Sonoma County in, and a lifelong collection of art, family heirlooms, records, movie memorabilia and collectibles. Those of us lucky enough to have visited their Butte County home were audience to some very impressive show-and-tells, indeed. Although one of Jason’s main jobs was upkeep of the 3 acre property, home and garden, Jason and Holley’s livelihood was their online antiques and collectibles shop, the inventory of which was also lost.

We are asking our friends to donate whatever they can to help Jason & Holley get back on their feet, because they would never ask for themselves. They are kind, conscientious animal lovers who, like so many people in Butte County, had zero warning about this devastating wildfire, and they are grateful to have gotten out of danger with Sam, Koko, and the few items they were able to grab. They have temporary housing for the time being, but are in need of funds for clothing, food, the pets’ needs, medical expenses, and so many other things that we take for granted from day to day, as well as equipment and expenses for trips back to the property to sort through the ash.

For those that have been helping, Jason & Holley are extremely grateful. Thank you for your generosity!
