Help for our family during this cancer battle

Hi my name is Leah. I am married to the most amazing woman ever to walk this earth, Mrs. Shawna Romero. If you personally know us you know our story. We met and fell in love September of 2020. Shawna always had painful periods her whole life and that had worsened in the few years leading up to us meeting. In October of 2020 we went to the emergency room because she was in so much pain she could barely walk. Passed around from doctor to doctor she finally saw a doctor that cared in January in our hospital, Southeast Health in Dothan al. When she was hospitalized for almost bleeding to death. She received 3 blood transfusions and a diagnosis of cervical cancer. We started all the right steps with all the right doctors but had to wait over 2 months for her insurance to be approved to get a scan to see how bad things were. We couldn’t afford the $2700 out of pocket even tho I exhausted every effort to find the money. Once she had her scan we were given the news…..her cancer had already metastasized from just her cervix in to her liver and lymph nodes in her chest and her left ovary. We were then told she had 12-14 months to live based on statistics. Immediately chemo began. The first type she went through all her treatments likes a champ and sported and beautiful bald head with a smile. CT scan showed no new growth and some spots had even gone completely! We were ecstatic. She then went on immunotherapy to build her system back up for another fight. In April (on my birthday) this beautiful soul asked me to be her wife and I couldn’t say yes fast enough. On July 28th 2021 we said I do at our local court house and took our last road trip/honeymoon/adventure that we’d be able ti have for quite a while if ever again. Towards the end of immunotherapy the pain came back and with a vengeance. After another Scan we learned that the cancer had grown again so back on a different chemo we went. After a few rounds of that one with mild allergic reactions we had another scan and we got news no one ever wants to get….it spread again. This time 2 large masses in her liver in addition to the tumor in her pelvis and ovary. We were told hospice should be a decision we think about making as well as end of life choices. But hope is something she refuses to lose. Since her first hospitalization she has had to receive 5 more blood Tara fusions, 2 of which were just a few days ago. Terrified every day that we don’t know how many days we have…..she keeps fighting. I signed up for FMLA because more and more she needs my care at home. I am by her side every second I’m not making a paycheck to support our family. The need for me to be home increases more every day. Simple things that people take for granted like being able to get in and out of a bathtub alone or even walk to the bathroom or eat a solid meal are things she just can’t do right now. I’m starting this go fund me at the suggestion of friends. Fmla doesn’t cover any pay, only ensures I won’t lose my job. None of my benefits cover being out with my spouse for an illness. My place is by her side. Doing everything possible to make things as easy and comfortable as they can be for her. I’m posting this in hopes of help for the upcoming time I’m going to need to be home with my amazing wife because no one should have to go to battle alone. Especially not an amazing, cat loving, huge hearted, vibrant soul like her. Any help anyone could give would be so greatly appreciated. Even if it’s just some positive words or prayers for her healing and to ease her pain. January 31st we are scheduled for a surgery that will cut blood supply to the tumor in her liver through the artery to help alleviate some pain and give her more time here with us hopefully. Thank you in advance for any help you give. Enjoy every small minute with your loved ones. They are the biggest ones you’ll miss. Thank you for taking the time to read our story ❤️
